ALFRETON: Wesley Church hosts variety of activities



Minister the Rev Adrian Smith of Tansley was the speaker at a meeting on Tuesday of the Ladies Fellowship of Alfreton Wesley Church. Valerie Cogar was pianist.


A new Bible study group has been launched at Alfreton Wesley Church. The group meets fortnightly on Monday afternoons. Members are currently studying the Acts of the Apostles, led by minister the Rev Adrian Smith.


Plans for future events were discussed at a committee meeting on Thursday of the Alfreton Action Group of the Bible Society. Fund-raising coffee mornings are among efforts planned for the coming months.


The monthly Saturday lunch at Alfreton Wesley Church was served by June Dellow and helpers.


All officers were re-elected at a meeting on Friday of the church council of Alfreton Wesley Church. Minister the Rev Adrian Smith presided, assisted by secretary Eleanor Robinson. Reports were given of various church activities and discussion took place on future events. The church is currently celebrating the 30th anniversary of the opening of the present building in Ellesmere Avenue.


A double-bill of comedy is being presented tomorrow evening (Friday) at Alfreton Wesley Church. Two short plays, “The Royal Doulton Figurine” and “The Matinee”, are being staged by members of Ripley Amateur Drama Group. The event begins at 7pm, and admission is £5, which includes a buffet supper. Proceeds are for church funds. For more details, please ring 01773 833627.
