A man has denied punching a motorist and breaking his cheekbone following an accident on a Sutton road.

Richard Adrian John Hill (29) of Cleveland Road, Alfreton, denied attacking the victim following the collision on Penny Emma Way in February.

Mansfield magistrates were told that Mr Hill argued with the man before striking him. The complainant required reconstructive surgery and had a plate inserted into his face.

However, the defendant says he never touched the victim and denies a charge of inflicting GBH with intent.

Defending, Robert Glansfield, claims the man’s injuries are consistent with the crash and not wearing a seat belt.

The case was sent to Nottingham Crown Court for a trial with Mr Hill set to be appear for a preliminary hearing on 19th September.
