Adult care unit is outstanding, say inspectors
The Care Quality Commission has found the quality of care provided by Chesterfield's Baden Powell Centre in Chesterfield to be Outstanding.
Inspectors found staff were caring and compassionate and people were being provided with safe, responsive, caring, effective and well-led care.
The Baden Powell Centre provides accommodation and personal care for up to 16 adults who have a learning disability and autism or other associated needs.
Andrea Sutcliffe, Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care, said: “The quality of care which our inspectors found here was exceptional and I am very pleased that we can celebrate the service’s achievements.”
Jamie Rankin, current Head of Care for Quality Care EM Ltd and Registered Manager of The Baden Powell Centre until April 2017, said: “We started the centre with a small group of 11 people.
“It has been a long journey but, despite the pressures of funding and other factors, the team always stayed true to their vision of a service that is of the highest quality and thinks a little differently in order to do the best for those we support.”
“We now have a full team and a thriving centre that offers support to our clients that we truly believe they would get nowhere else.”
