THINGS go bump in the night at one village pub, after owners captured some ghostly goings on on CCTV.
The peculiar presense was seen at the Ace of Clubs on Mansfield Road in Bolsover, when Manager Julie Birch was locking up one Wednesday night.
“I had my back turned to the pub and was facing the surveillance screens” she said. “I saw an orange flash out of the corner of my eye on the CCTV.
“I don’t know what it was but it seemed to be running across the back room from the kitchen.
“I got out as quick as I could and got home. It was so scary.”
The footage shows an orb-like ball speeding across the building, which was formerly a miners welfare club, although the night cameras aren’t entirely clear.
“I told my friends about it and noone believed me. But when they saw the video they did. Everyone is amazed.
“I have never been scared about anything but after this, it was two days before my heart started beating again.”
Staff at the pub have asked regulars about the history of the building and the nearby area, but so far are no closer to shedding any light on their phantom foe.
But it appears the elusive visitor has a penchant for real ale, as Julie has also snapped a spooky figure lurking behind the taps.
“I took a photo of the video and I can make out a face hovering behind the bar next to the Black Sheep tap.
“We have also had times when something has just flown off the side or fallen off the wall randomly.”
The orb has certainly got the regulars wondering, but still the spectral sight remains a mystery.
