The Post Office is to expand its base in Chesterfield, bringing more than 160 jobs to the town.
The announcement was made at the annual Celebrate Chesterfield event which was attended by 250 of the town’s business leaders when it was revealed that the move follows the centralisation of the majority of the Post Office’s internal contact centre.
So far 45 of the 160 roles have been centralised, at the Future Walk offices on West Bars, with additional jobs expected in the near future.
Welcoming the news, Chesterfield Borough Council’s leader Cllr John Burrows said: “Creating these new job opportunities will bring more people into the town centre.”
“Using our shops and businesses will help grow our town centre economy.”
The news follows an announcement earlier that more than 300 jobs are set to be created in Chesterfield as part of the first phase of the town’s £320 million regeneration scheme, Chesterfield Waterside. Read more here.
