11 Derbyshire police staff earn more than £100K per year

The figures, which have been released by the Taxpayers’ Alliance, also reveal 670 police employees nationally who were paid more than £100,000 and 20 who got more than £200,000.

In Derbyshire, Chief Constable Mick Creedon is the highest earner with a salary of £141,915 according to the Police Oracle website.

Jonathan Isaby, Chief Executive of the TaxPayers’ Alliance, said: “The men and women working in these services do tough, dangerous jobs for which the public are grateful, but that only makes it even more infuriating when those at the top continue to get taxpayer-funded deals and pay-offs that are completely out of step with reality.

“Necessary savings are being made and this reality must be reflected in the pay packages for the top brass.”

Part of the body’s ‘Public Sector Rich List’ study, the figures came from a combination of Freedom of Information requests and analysis of police service annual statements of accounts.

They say that while taxpayers should be grateful to the men and women who risk their lives to keep the public safe, there are too many examples of enormous payouts and a lack of accountability for those who fail to do their job.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police said: “Salaries for police officers are set nationally, based on their position and length of service. The force has no discretion on pay scales.”
