Poetry. This weekend’s Derwent Poetry Festival opens at Masson Mills, Cromford, with the launch of the publication Battling Against the Odds by Oliver Comins about the sport of golf and the game of life, from 7pm to 8.30pm.

Music. National DJs will be playing the sounds of the 60s and 70s on vinyl at a Motown and soul night at Matlock Football Club from 8pm to 12midnight. Tickets: £5 in advance or £6 on the door. Contact 01629 583866.
