The baker who won the nation’s hearts and made Mary Berry cry when she won Bake Off last year, will appear at the family-friendly and vintage inspired festival on August 13 at Bakewell Showground.

Nadiya, who made the Queen’s 90th birthday cake, will be judging 80-plus entries from schools in a competition to design a cake for the Queen.

She said: “I am really delighted to have been asked to appear at the Bakewell Baking Festival. It will be my first ever visit to Bakewell and I am really looking forward to meeting everyone at the festival, sharing some of my recipes from my new book Nadiya’s Kitchen and of course sampling the legendary Bakewell pudding.”

Other stars appearing at the festival on August 13 and 14 include baking guru Edd Kimber who was the first winner of the GBBO, Masterchef finalist turned restaurateur Stacie Stewart, GBBO’s Howard Middleton, Baking Brother Henry Herbert of Hobbs House Bakery and teenage baking sensation Amy-Bet Ellice.

Festival director Paul Morgans said: “Last year we had around 10,000 people attend the festival all held spellbound by our brilliant baking stars and I’m really delighted that we’ve managed to get last year’s Bake off winner Nadiya to join us in this year’s line-up.

“We’ve added more stalls and more entertainment for this year as we want this to be a real celebration of the nation’s favourite pastime - baking!”
