More acts unveiled for Indietracks Festival

The 2014 event takes place from July 25-27 at the Midland Railway at Butterley, near Ripley.

Joining the bill are New Zealand indiepop favourites The Chills and dark melodic popsters The Proper Ornaments.

Headlining this year’s Indietracks is London/Australian indiepop band Allo Darlin’ (Friday), Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys (Saturday) and Canadian goth pop band The Hidden Cameras (Sunday).

Other bands added to the bill today are The Flatmates (UK), Nat Johnson (UK), Ravioli Me Away (UK), Dorotea (Sweden), The Hidden Horses (UK), The Royal Landscaping Society (Spain), Bill Botting (UK), Wolf Girl (UK), Skeletal Shakes (UK), The Thyme Machine (UK), Watoo Watoo (France), Marc and Graeme Elston (UK), Lisa Bouvier (Sweden) and The Swapsies (UK). The Come Again DJs will also be DJing on the indoor stage on Friday night.

The Chills are an indiepop band which formed in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1980, and are known as a part of the Dunedin sound style of indiepop music, which coalesced around the Auckland-based label Flying Nun Records. The band has released four studio albums, and Indietracks is a rare show as part of a fleeting tour of Europe this year.

Mining the rich territories or The Velvet Underground and The Beach Boys, The Proper Ornaments comprise of Argentinian Max Claps and James Hoare (also of Veronica Falls) – who both sing and write the songs – joined by Daniel Nellis (bass) and Robert Syme (drums). Their debut album “Wooden Head” was released on Fortuna POP! In 2014, featuring fourteen thrillingly taut and melodic pop songs with a deep, dark undercurrent.

Also playing Indietracks this year are Dean Wareham (US), Joanna Gruesome (UK), Spearmint (UK), Withered Hand (UK), The Popguns (UK), Sweet Baboo (UK), The Spook School (UK), Let’s Wrestle (UK) and Laura J Martin (UK).
