Step inside abandoned Chesterfield homes complete with pool, snooker room and sauna

The neighbouring Avenue Villa and Avenue House, off Avenue Road, Whittington Moor, are now facing demolition for the 0.94-acre site to be redeveloped.

But before the site is cleared, urban explorers from Abandoned UK have been inside and taken some fascinating pictures of the interiors – complete with sauna and snooker table.

Abandoned UK said: “The previous residents of both dwellings were of the same family. They lived in both homes creating one large site. They vacated the properties in early 2018 and the site was up for sale at a guide price of £475.000.”

“Shortly after this, it quickly became ransacked and badly vandalised.”

Talking about the dangers of abandoned buildings, a Derbyshire Police spokesman said: “Insecure disused buildings pose a serious risk to anyone who enters them. Sites such as this are often in serious states of disrepair and have a number of potential dangers within them. Those entering these types of site are leaving themselves vulnerable to serious injury and even death.

“If you are concerned about the security of a building, you should make the relevant local authority aware. If, however, there is an ongoing situation that is an emergency, contact the police on 999.”

After the homes failed to sell, they were put up for auction in November 2020, selling for £516,000.

The auction listing said: “The site is currently occupied by two substantial detached dwellings.

“While the site does not benefit from any extant planning consents, the current owners have commissioned an architect to draw a scheme showing how the existing site could be development by way of demolishing the two existing residential dwellings.

“The scheme produced demonstrates how 13 three-bedroom dwellings could be sited on the plot.”
