High prices herald a return in confidence

Graham Penny Auctions held a highly successful May sale when 64 properties came under the hammer of which 49 were successfully sold, some at extremely high prices..

A full auction room witnessed some exciting bidding battles being played out, and a total of £5.2 million pounds worth of property exchanged hands.

Auctioneer Graham Penny commented that the sale was further evidence that confidence was returning to the property market with more instructions, more sales and at probably higher prices than for a long time.

People are putting more trust in the auction process and seeing it as an efficient way of both buying and selling property” he said.

The aution lots include:

Cottiswood, 1 Hurds Hollow, Dimple Lane, Matlock, a stone built three bedroomed detached house requiring a scheme of modernisation and improvement sold for £135,500.

53 & 53A Alfred Street, Alfreton, a semi detached property which has been divided into two flats – one let, one vacant – sold for £82,500.

8.23 acres of land off Little Bolehill, Wirksworth fetched £60,000, off a guide of £28,000+.

1 West Street, South Normanton, a two bedroomed end terraced house with substantial area of land to side and parking space, requiring a complete scheme of renovation, sold for £55,000.

Graham Penny Auctions has already received a number of entries for its next sale on Thursday, 11 July, and is taking further entries until Friday, June 14.
