Senegalese multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Amadou Diagne and his UK based band Yakar have been developing a style that is uniquely their own.

It infuses Afro-beat to blues, jazz, funk, traditional West African singing and rock.

Members of the band have played at the likes of Glastonbury, the London Olympic Games, Montreux Jazz Festival, Notting Hill Carnival, Hammersmith Apollo, and have made many TV and radio appearances world-wide.

The five-piece band presents a colourful and energetic show featuring a mix of self-penned songs and traditional music from Senegal.

Amadou sings soulful, blues numbers delivered with an honest intensity that reflects on the joys and hardships of life.

Most of the music and songs are composed by Amadou, and you can expect to hear some traditional West African songs too.
