This week, we reported how Jacky Rodgers had started the project to ‘share some joy’ and raise funds for the NHS, after she was forced to temporarily close the photography business which she started in the town four years ago.

And now, she will be out and about in the Newbold and Dunston areas on Friday, May 8, to photograph residents as they celebrate the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe from their homes and front gardens.

Daughter Tiffany Jackson said: “For the past few weeks, my mum's evenings and afternoons have been spent capturing families in the local Newbold and Dunston area. She has captured some great images so far and they have been so well received.

“Families have been so excited about having their photos taken on their doorsteps and with the VE Day celebrations looming, mum is hoping to grasp some more wonderful photo opportunities.

“Many people across Chesterfield will be having 'social distanced' street parties or home celebrations, and what a wonderful moment to capture and have a reminder off.

“If you live in the Newbold area, my mum would be delighted if you could get in touch if you are having any VE Day outdoor celebrations and you would like some images taken of your festivities.

“This is all part of her fundraising lockdown project for the NHS. My mum’s JustGiving Page is almost at £100 and donations are still coming in.

“If you enjoy the images and could donate into the fundraising page if you can, then that would be amazing, any donation no matter how small is greatly appreciated.

“Lockdown has been a strange and difficult time for many, it would be lovely to capture some images of families, neighbours, and communities coming together to celebrate VE Day in these extraordinary times, and at the same time raise some very important funds for our amazing NHS.”
