Budapest Café Orchestra brings Balkan tunes to Buxton
Led by jazz violin superstar Christian Garrick, the Budapest Café Orchestra will bring the traditional folk and gypsy flavoured music from across the Balkans and Russia to Buxton Opera House.
The hugely entertaining orchestra demonstrates immense skill and profound musicianship in a show that’ll make you want to book that holiday down the Danube!
The orchestra will play at the Opera House on May 25, promising a captivating performance which will evoke vivid images of tzigane fiddle maestros, Budapest café life and gypsy campfires.
A small but impeccably formed orchestra of just four players, they combine violin, guitar, accordion, double bass, saz and balalaika.
Other music events coming up include 3 Days in May, a mini festival over the bank holiday weekend (May 27 to 29) with leading blues singer/songwriter Eric Bibb, famous Irish folk artist Luka Bloom and Habadekuk, Denmark’s leading folk band.
Gravity Percussion Duo will take the helm on June 1 for the coffee concert in the Arts Centre.
Tickets to see Budapest Café Orchestra cost £22. To buy tickets for this or other events, call 01298 72190 or visit www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk
