Doctor Who's Jodie Whittaker may be leaving the hit BBC series but who remembers when she arrived in Sheffield for the show premier?

The actor who has been at the helm of the TARDIS since 2017 will be handing over her sonic screwdriver at the end of this series which is set to air this autumn.

The Timelord was the first woman to take on the iconic role following in the footsteps of William Hartnell, Jon Pertwee, David Tennant and Peter Capaldi.

The Daily Mail has reported the actress is said to have told bosses of the BBC sci-fi drama series that she will not return after the forthcoming new season.

Her departure will follow the loss of companions Ryan Sinclair, played by Tosin Cole and Graham O'Brien played by Bradley Walsh who announced on the New Year’s Day special they would not be travelling through time and space any more.

The 38-year-old flew the flag for Sheffield and spoke fondly of the show even using Sheffield steel to make a sonic swiss army knife and with Yasmin Khan, played by Mandip Gill, living in Park Hill flats Sheffield has been a key part in the backdrop of the hit show so it was only right to have the premiere of the first episode ‘The Woman Who Fell To Earth’ at a red carpet event at the Light Cinema on The Moor back in September 2018.

So in light of the news of her impending departure we have dug out the pictures from the premier. Which Whovians can you spot waiting in the crowd? Did you get a selfie with any of the actors? Let us know at [email protected]
