More Derbyshire schools announce coronavirus closures as fears over pandemic grow

Yesterday, William Rhodes Primary and Nursery in Chesterfield asked parents to keep their children at home if at all possible due to the number of staff in vulnerable groups needing to self-isolate.
It remains open to children of parents who work for the NHS, care sector and emergency services.

Hide AdToday, more schools have followed suit in an effort to protect staff and children from the virus.
New Mills School will be open for Year 7 and 11 students only today.
The school said the closure is to ‘preserve the health and safety of both staff and pupils’.
Buxton Community School is closed for Years 8, 9, 10 and 12 for the ‘foreseeable future’.
Yesterday it was announced that the number of people diagnosed with Covid-19 had risen to 1,950 and the death toll climbed to 71.
