Since Beat the Street launched last week, 11,829 people have signed up and they have walked, ran and cycled 52,170 miles.

Councillor Jill Mannion-Brunt, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “Beat the Street is off to a great start and already there are noticeably more people visible on the streets walking, running and cycling.

“There is still time to tell all of your friends and to get involved – pick up a card from your leisure centre or library and start tapping.”
