Twelve more die in South Yorkshire, updated figures show

Twelve more people in South Yorkshire have died within 28 days of testing positive for coronavirus, figures released by NHS England today have shown.

Eight more people who tested positive for the virus have died in Sheffield’s hospitals, according to the most recent data released today (December 29), bringing the total Covid-19 related fatalities in the city to 589.

One further death was recorded in Doncaster, where the death toll stands at 549.

In Rotherham there were two additional deaths, taking the total to 422 and in Barnsley there have now been 410 deaths, after one more was recorded in the town.

A further 318 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 48,860.

Patients were aged between 38 and 100 years old. All except 13, aged 64 to 92 years old, had known underlying health conditions.

The families of those who died have been informed.
