The county as a whole saw three times as many new confirmed cases the final week of October than it did in the first week of the month.

Bolsover, South Derbyshire and Derby now have the highest rates of infection in the county and were only given tier two restrictions on Halloween, the same day lockdown was announced.

Government data groups cases into local areas based on populations of around 7,500, which is why they do not mimic council ward boundaries.

These have been compiled into a map enabling more detailed analysis of the county and city’s hotspots.

The local area within Derbyshire and Derby with the highest number of new cases in the week to October 30 was Spital & Hasland in Chesterfield borough, with 62.

It is followed by the rural South Derbyshire area of Castle Gresley, Overseal & Coton with 61.

They are the only two areas to accumulate 60 or more new cases in the most recent week.

Oakwood in Derby has the third highest number of new cases with 59, followed by Sandiacre & Stanton in Erewash with 57, then Duffield, Quarndon & Kirk Langley in Amber Valley and Langwith, Shirebrook South & Pleasley in Bolsover district with 56 cases each.

This also goes some way to show how the rate of cases in Derbyshire has increased in recent weeks.

Last week, just two areas had surpassed 50 cases, but this, too, has increased markedly to eight.
