Sightseers 'ignore' coronavirus restrictions to flood Derbyshire beauty spot

Bakewell Police shared pictures on Twitter of a line of vehicles parked near Monsal Head, despite tight restrictions imposed by the government.

Officers also found a note "left by a local" on one of the vehicles that said: "Travelling to beauty spots is not essential travel. Stay safe stay home."

On Monday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson addressed the nation to impose new restrictions, in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus.

People should leave home only to exercise once a day and travel to and from work where "absolutely necessary".

Peak District chiefs have already pleaded with visitors not to travel to the national park unless 'absolutely necessary’ during the coronavirus crisis.
