Mixed fortunes as latest Covid-19 infection rates for Chesterfield and Derbyshire announced

Wednesday’s update for every local authority showed differing figures across the county.

Infections per 100,000 people in Chesterfield, Derbyshire Dales and North East Derbyshire were all up while High Peak and South Derbyshire saw falls.

The figures, for the seven days to December 19, are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

South Derbyshire had an infection rate of 230.3 (247 cases) down from 255.5 (274 cases) while High Peak had a rate of 120.9, (112) against the previous total of 134.9 (125).

Chesterfield was up from 125.8 (132 cases) to 187.8 (197 cases) while the figures for North East Derbyshire were 193.2 (196) compared to 122.2 (124).

Derbyshire Dales was 113.4, (82) compared to 73.3, (53).

Data for December 20-23 has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.
