Each household will receive one more green waste collection before the changes take place on April 10, and the council say green bin collections will be reinstated as soon as it is safe to do so.

Portfolio holder for the environment, Councillor Charlotte Cupit, said, “We are doing everything we possibly can to help our residents during this difficult time.

“I’m grateful to all the members of staff who are working hard to maintain services and continue to collect waste.

“Streamlining the service will ensure we continue to have the staff available to safely continue collections.”

The council is asking residents who are self-isolating or vulnerable to complete an online form on their website www.ne-derbyshire.gov.uk or by calling 01246 231111, so that help can be arranged.
