Covid-19 death toll increases as another Chesterfield hospital patient dies from virus

Another hospital patient has died with coronavirus in Chesterfield, the latest NHS England data released this afternoon shows.

The town’s death toll has increased again, as one more person is confirmed to have passed away from Covid-19 while being treated by Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

This brings the total number of patients at the trust who have died after testing positive for Covid-19 up to 197 since the pandemic first hit earlier this year.

Across England, an additional 293 people died with the virus in hospital, increasing the amount of confirmed reported deaths in the country’s hospitals to 44,757.

Out of these fatalities, a total of 63 deaths occurred at hospitals in the Midlands.

The patients, who died between October 31 and December 14 but whose deaths were only announced today, were aged between 38 and 98 years old and all but eight had known underlying health conditions.
