Coronavirus: No deaths at Chesterfield Royal Hospital for second consecutive day

No further coronavirus deaths have been recorded at Chesterfield Royal Hospital for the second consecutive day.

It means the death toll at the Royal remains at 128 as of 5pm on Tuesday. The figures were provided by NHS England and do not include deaths in care homes and the community.

There have been 1,783 confirmed cases of the disease in Derbyshire as of 4pm on Tuesday.

Across the country a further 88 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 27,707. The government announced the confirmed coronavirus death toll was 40,883 as of 5pm on Monday – the latest available data. However, the government figures do not include all deaths involving Covid-19 across the UK.

Data compiled by the statistical bodies of each of the home nations show 51,086 people died of either confirmed or suspected Covid-19 across the UK by the end of May.
