Overall, the country’s total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals has now increased to 69,801.

The most recently recorded fatalities took place between November 11, 2020 and January 27, 2021, with the majority being on or after January 22 – allowing for the time taken for positive results to be received among the potential factors in a delay between a death happening and being recorded.

NHS England said the patients were aged between 25 and 104 years old and all except 33 people aged between 46 and 102 years old suffered from known underlying health conditions.

The figures represent the deaths of people who were being treated in hospital, following a positive coronavirus test in the previous 28 day period and whose fatalities were documented in the latest reporting period.

In Chesterfield, a total of 139 patients passed away across all settings within 28 days of testing positive for the virus up to Thursday, January 28, according to the most recent Government health figures.

The number of fatalities across all settings in Chesterfield equates to 132.5 deaths per 100,000 people since the pandemic began, with the highest daily total being five deaths on January 14, 2021.
