A Chesterfield shop is under fire for selling toilet rolls for £10.99 and hand sanitiser for £5.99 after a lapse in supply due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Angry customers spotting toilet roll on sale for £10.99 and hand sanitiser for £5.99 at the front of the Village Store, Hasland.

They say the shop is also selling face masks, another item in short supply.

Susan Kellet said:”At a time when we all ought to be helping each other and looking out for our elderly and vulnerable, I find their actions abhorrent.

“They threatened me with the police if I posted anything on Facebook.”

Another customer said: “ It's a shame. We should be helping the elderly at a time like this. They would give her their last bit of money thinking it could save lives.”

The shop was taken over by new management in January. The Derbyshire Times has attempted to contact them for comment.
