Chesterfield Covid stats show cases are falling - but more deaths reported

A further two people who tested positive for coronavirus have died at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, according to the latest daily statistics.

Figures released by NHS England show 356 deaths were recorded in the 24 hours to 4pm on Sunday, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 72,145.

The patients were aged between 22 and 103 years old. All except 20 – aged 50 to 96 years old - had known underlying health conditions.

Their families have been informed.

To date, 311 coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded at the Royal since the start of the pandemic.

According to Government data, a total of 1,491 patients across all settings in Derbyshire have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19.

There were 315 cases per 100,000 people in Chesterfield in the seven days to 21 January, down 67 compared with the previous week. The average area in England had 270.
