“We cannot begin to imagine how challenging this may be for frontline health & NHS employees as they set off on a daily basis, placing themselves in danger to help others. Our plan is to shed a little sunshine and ease the load a little.”

The bar, which was forced to close along with all other pubs and restaurants on Friday, March 20, is urging local residents to donate so it can use its contacts within the food supply system to purchase essential food items at a lower cost or by buying in bulk.

It will then provide NHS staff in the local community with simple food necessities or vouchers to enable them to keep themselves and their families well fed.

“You will have seen the sorry stories on the news of exhausted NHS workers arriving at supermarkets to find empty shelves - together, we can help to combat that,” the spokesman added.
