Chesterfield loses another patient to Covid-19

Chesterfield’s coronavirus death toll has risen again after an additional patient passed away with the deadly bug, the latest NHS data has revealed.

The figures, released daily as part of the government’s daily briefing, show that Chesterfield Royal Hospital recorded the death of a patient who tested positive for the virus on December 12.

It brings the number of coronavirus-related fatalities in the town to a total of 196, almost nine months since the pandemic hit.

Nationwide a further 159 people who tested positive for the coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 44,285.

Patients were aged between 47and 9 7years old, said NHS England. All except five of those patients, who were aged 55 to 89 years old, had known underlying health conditions.

The date of the deatsh ranges from November 8 to December 12.

Their families have been informed.
