The Derbyshire primary schools that are the hardest to get your child into in 2021

Parents and guardians across the county learned last Friday, April 16, which primary school their child had been placed in.

Overall, Derbyshire County Council made 7,775 offers of places on National Offer Day, with the figure including late applications submitted after the closing date of midnight on April 15.

Of the applications submitted for a reception place by the closing date, 7,455 children (98.3 per cent) were given a place at one of their three preferred schools.

This included 7,162 children (94.6 per cent) who had their top school preference met for September.

Jane Parfrement, Executive Director for Children’s Services at Derbyshire County Council said: “Starting school is a big step for every child and I’m really pleased that so many families have been allocated a place at one of their three preferred schools.

“I’d like to thank everyone who applied within the deadline and I’d like to thank our school admissions and transport team for all their hard work processing all the applications.

“If you haven’t applied for your child’s primary school place yet then please get in contact with us as a matter of urgency.”

Parents unhappy with the decision have until May 17 to lodge an appeal, with cases to be heard as soon after that as possible.

Figures from Derbyshire County Council have revealed which schools were oversubscribed for the 2021/22 academic year.
