Each child at Sharley Park Community Primary School designed a colourful poppy to make up a large rainbow.

Teachers Beth Green and Joe Hall, who organised the project, said: “Our children have worked together to produce a wonderful piece of artwork – they have done an excellent job.

“We would like to thank DS Smith in Danesmoor for providing us with the giant rainbow template.”

Nicola Stevenson, headteacher at the school, added: “We are so proud of all our children for taking part in this project.

“They have thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Each of the poppies represent a theme or group. Among them are red poppies which represent those who have died in wars and conflicts, yellow poppies to signify mental health and the importance of being kind, and blue poppies to represent the country’s key workers and the wonderful work they do.
