The William Rhodes Primary and Nursery School in Boythorpe asked parents this morning to keep their children at home if at all possible.
Families unable to care for their children at home were still able to take the youngsters to school but some members of staff have been sent home due to being in at risk groups.
The school has stressed that it is not ‘closed’.
