Celebrating HRH's birthday in style

And they were not alone - they were joined by new Chesterfield mayor Steve Brunt and mayoress Jill Manion-Brunt.

Mayor Brunt joined in the party games and even entertained the children with a hula hoop performance.

Headteacher Catherine Harris said: “We just wanted to do something fun - the children absolutely loved it.

“They all made prince and princess crowns and had a tea party with cakes.

“We also played games just like the Queen would have played when she was a child.”

Layla Megyesi, 7, of Year 2, said: “I enjoyed it because we got to play with children from different classes.

“I think the Queen is very good.”

Ms Harris said the children or Years 1 and 2 particularly enjoyed being able to enjoy the celebrations all together on the day.
