“I think it exceeded people’s expectations.”

The restaurant now has a second floor, meaning it has gone from being able to hold 85 people to 140.

On the top floor a window overlooking Hall Leys Park opens up to give the customers a sensation of being on a balcony. There is also a second bar.

“I had an interior designer from Brighton work on the look, which is an infusion of Arabic and Indian design.

“I went to Morocco to get some of the light fixtures.

“Even the menu has had a makeover – they’ve got silk covers. There are some new additions to the menu as well.”

Irfan said he hopes the restaurant is something the people of Matlock can be proud of and that it will be viewed as a landmark for the town.

“I’d like to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who has supported us over the years and allowed us to create a place like this.”

Now the restaurant has reopened, Irfan’s new premises in Crown Square, Maazi 2 Go, will be used primarily for food deliveries.
