Firm presses on with investment

Following a £7m deal signed at Drupa 2012 for two of the latest Heidelberg long perfecting presses, Buxton Press has installed another Heidelberg Speedmaster XL106-8-P.

Like its sister press - installed six months ago - Buxton’s newly-installed eight colour perfecting press is complete with CutStar reel to sheet technology, Inpress Control and Autoplate XL simultaneous plate changing, drastically reducing make ready times and boosting operating efficiencies.

Managing director Kirk Galloway said: “We are delighted with the performance of the first XL106 and are very excited at the prospect of another high output press which, when combined with our existing four KBA long perfecting presses, will completely revolutionise Buxton’s overall output capabilities.”

The latest installation is part of a four-year rolling expansion programme and follows closely on the heels of a multi-million pound expansion in finishing and binding capacities and, to bolster pre-press output, the installation of the Fuji XMF Remote workflow suite – the largest of its kind in Europe.

Mr Galloway added: “Buxton is at an incredibly exciting stage in its development and increasing capacities and boosting operating efficiencies is crucial to our future growth.”
