Work underway on new McDonald’s in Chesterfield
Work is underway on a new McDonald’s in Chesterfield.
The restaurant and drive-thru will open at the site of the former multi-storey car park on West Bars on an as yet unspecified date.
Sixty-five jobs will be created when the fast food giant opens at the location.
It will be its third outlet in the town.
When the planning application was approved last year, Liberal Democrat Councillor Ed Fordham, who represents the Brockwell ward on Chesterfield Borough Council, said: “This is good news – good for jobs, good for the economy, good for West Bars and good for developing that whole area as part of Chesterfield’s takeaway offer.
“The challenge is making the takeaway service less environmentally damaging, more eco friendly and limiting litter but I’m sure McDonald’s will work with us to achieve that.”
On our Facebook page, however, a number of residents questioned whether the town needs another McDonald’s.
