Kay Towers, who runs the Holmefield Arms, helped Covid-19 support group the Community Unity Project distribute essentials to the elderly during the height of the lockdown period.

Kind-hearted Kay made over 200 cream teas for the isolated - many of which she dropped off at people’s doorsteps.

Over the Easter weekend the generous landlady cooked up and paid for more than 50 dinners for those stuck at home.

As the pub closed when restrictions came into place Kay held virtual events to take people’s minds off the virus - raising over £1,400 for charity and the community at the same time.

As well as giving to cancer and Alzheimer’s charities the money raised will go towards paying for the area’s pantomime this December.

“By helping the elderly, keyworkers, and the most vulnerable, you have truly gone above and beyond during this national crisis - it is greatly appreciated.

“Through this selfless work you have demonstrated what an incredible community ambassador you are. You truly represent the best of Bolsover, and the best of Britain.”

Speaking about the MP’s letter Kay said: “It’s amazing - I’m going to get it framed and put it behind the bar.

“I just like to see people enjoy themselves - I get a buzz off it.”
