Independent sellers can post about their goods on the Facebook group named ‘Peaked Interest Christmas Market’ from now until December 17 to advertise their products virtually, in the absence of this year’s Christmas markets.

The online page is also being used to encourage residents in Derbyshire to support local businesses during the ongoing pandemic, which has financially hit many local shops after national and regional lockdowns.

Business owners must request to join the virtual Christmas market, where they will be issued with a stall number once accepted and given permission to post about their goods and services to over 2,500 members.

On the page’s ‘about’ section, organisers explained how they were inspired to set up the group to bring some Christmas spirit to the community.

It reads: “With so many Christmas markets cancelled or in doubt this year we thought we’d help bring on the festive cheer with an online market of our own.

"We’re inviting rural crafters and other stallholders to show their wares on our new Peaked Interest Christmas Market Group.
