Vibe reduced its closing time to 5am after former Chesterfield soldier Joseph Robotham died aged 23 following an incident outside the premises in February.

In March, the Holywell Street bar confirmed it had submitted a premises licence variation application to Chesterfield Borough Council because it wanted to revert back to its previous closing time of 6am.

The council’s licensing committee met virtually last Wednesday and approved the premises licence variation, subject to security conditions.

The committee said: “All security staff at the premises shall wear body worn cameras while on duty.

“Such cameras must be in working order and filming at all times that they are worn.

“Such cameras must also be capable of storing images which can be replayed and viewed.”

The committee added: “Sensors must be fitted to all fire exits to alert staff when these exits are used.”

Much of the leisure and hospitality industry is currently closed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

It has not yet been confirmed when Vibe will reopen.

Joseph Robotham, an engineer who lived on Sheffield Road, died after he was allegedly hit to the head with a glass bottle outside Vibe during the early hours of February 8.

After the incident, Connor Rose, 24, of no fixed abode, was charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon. He is due to stand trial later this year.

A second man, 28, was arrested on suspicion of affray and subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries.
