William Shakespeare in the spotlight

The question has captivated academics, actors, directors and the public at large. Was there a man called William Shakespeare and did he write all those plays? Or was he just a butcher's boy from the countryside '“ a front-man for a poetic lord?

Pavilion Arts Centre. He’ll tell you what really happened – all the stories. You’ll meet Queen Elizabeth, Edward De Vere and Christopher Marlowe.

He’ll play you a few of the greatest hits during the show which is entitled Your Bard.

Other drama coming to the Pavilion Arts Centre includes The Time Machine (September 22) by Robert Lloyd Parry. Parry already has his own fan base in Buxton for his adaptation of M.R. James’ classic Ghost stories, which have been coming to the town for several years.

An Elephant in the Garden, written by Michael Morpurgo, has been adapted for the stage and will be performed on October 24 and 25. A Christmas Carol will be performed by Chapterhouse Theatre Company at the arts centre on November 26.
