Trio of jazz spectacles set to brighten up July

Buxton Festival will feature entertaining evening jazz events this July, in the relaxed setting of the Pavilion Café.

Singer, pianist, composer and entertainer Joe Stilgoe will be joined by MOBO-nominated singer-songwriter Natalie Williams on Saturday July 12 for the first of the weekly sessions.

Now in the seventh year of running Soul Family Sunday’s at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Natalie has toured major worldwide jazz events.

Alex Garnett, one of the leading saxophonists, prepares to ‘Swing the Classics’ with members of the house band at Ronnie Scott’s including James Pearson a week later, on Saturday July 19.

The final of the three sessions sees clarinettist Pete Long and trumpeter/vocalist Georgina Jackson join forces to present the music of Peggy Lee, Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman.

The highly entertaining programme will roll into Buxton on Saturday July 26.

Jazz enthusiasts can also enjoy 100 years of Jazz in 99 minutes, 24 hours previously, on Friday July 25 at 9pm, also in the Pavilion Café.

The multi-instrumental Jazz Repertory Company create a highly entertaining journey through the decades that takes in everything from New Orleans to Swing, Latin and Hot to Cool.
