For those who like folk, Belshazzar’s Feast at Christmas (15 December) in the Arts Centre is a show full of festive frivolity and humour. Bellowhead’s Paul Sartin, a singer, oboist, violinist and composer will join together with Hoover the Dog’s Paul Hutchinson, a superlative accordion player to produce an evening of jolly and atmospheric music.

Continuing the folk theme, a Friday night treat on December 18 at the Pavilion Arts Centre will comein the shape of Scottish electro-harp and vocal group, the Shine Trio with their Fire and Frost Christmas Tour, offering a set of bewitchingly arrayed harmonies and entrancing music.
