Summer programme of entertainment at Chesterfield’s Pomegranate Theatre and Winding Wheel

Drama, dance, music, comedy, children’s shows and films - there’s something to suit all the family in the new season of entertainment at Chesterfield theatres.

Budding detectives will want to track down a ticket for The Business of Murder (June 11-13) at the Pomegranate Theatre. The cast is led by Robert Gwiylm (Casualty, The Bill) and includes Paul Opacic (Bad Girls, Hollyoaks, Emmerdale) and Joanna Higson (Shameless).

Productions of Aladdin by Ballet Theatre UK on June 18 and Swan Lake by the Russian State Ballet and Opera House on October 26 will light up the Pomegranate stage.

Children’s shows at the Pomegranate Theatre include Stick Man on May 9, Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs on May 23 , Aliens Love Underpants on June 6 and 7 and Tree Fu Tom on June 28.

Star names from the world of song will be performing at the Winding Wheel. Russell Watson comes to town on May 15 followed by Joan Armatrading on May 26.

Comedians gracing the Winding Wheel stage will include Jasper Carrott (May 14), Billy Pearce (May 30) and Jimmy Tarbuck (July 25).

Musical theatre is headed by Avenue Q at the Winding Wheel from October 20 to 24.

Film shows at the Pomegranate range from Home (May 22 and 24) and Far From The Madding Crowd (June 19-21) to Force Majeure (June 20 and 21) and satellite broadcasts such as La Fille Mal Gardee by The Royal Ballet (May 5) and Pirates of Penzance, presented by English National Opera (May 21).
