Orchard’s play at the Duchess

Orchard Theatre Company members are back in action with their latest production, from May 14-16 at Long Eaton’s Duchess Theatre from 7.30pm.

Following the success of Wife after Death last May, members of the group were all exhausted. Orchard Theatre Group is very small, with few active members and putting on a production takes a lot out of them. Some members had not had a break for several years and rather than suffer burn out, a decision was made to rest, recover and regroup.

However, the group haven’t been idle during this time and have been rehearsing a very entertaining comedy, Quartet, by Ronald Harwood.

Quartet is the story of four elderly opera singers. Cissy, Reggie and Wilfred used to perform together but are now living in a retirement home for musicians. They are planning a performance in celebration of Verdi’s birthday when their peace is shattered by the arrival of a new resident. She is none other than Jean Horton, a singing legend and ‘diva’. To complicate matters she is also Reggie’s ex-wife. Former rivalries come to the surface and old secrets come to light too!

Tickets can be purchased via www.orchardtheatrecompany.co.uk and following the link to ticketsource. Alternatively, pop down to the Duchess Theatre coffee morning on Saturdays from 10am-12noon. Tickets cost £8 each with a concession price of £7.
