new arena to host aladdin

Derby’s all-star traditional family pantomime is set to make a welcome return, flying into the city’s new iconic Derby Arena for Christmas 2015.

After taking a year off due to the closure of the Assembly Rooms following a fire in March, Derby City Council are excited to announce that Derby LIVE and pantomime producers Paul Holman Associates will be staging the most magical and mystical story of all – Aladdin, at the new Derby Arena, and tickets are already selling well.

In the first few days after tickets were made available, over £6,000 worth of tickets had already been sold.

Cllr Alison Martin, cabinet member for leisure and culture said: “We’re really pleased that the pantomime is selling well this early on. It’s great to see that audiences are as excited about the Arena as we are.”

Audiences are invited to take a magical carpet ride through a tale full of eastern promise and adventure, where they will discover a magical world of make-believe.

Pantomime-goers will follow loveable rogue Aladdin on his quest for hidden treasure as he tries to win the heart of the beautiful Princess Jasmine. This fairy-tale story will have all your favourite pantomime characters, including the Genie of the Lamp, the Slave of the Ring, evil sorcerer Uncle Abanazer, Aladdin’s brother Wishee Washee, and the ultimate pantomime dame, Widow Twankey.

Aladdin will be on stage from December 7, 2015 until January 3, 2016. Call 01332 255800.
