Charles Dickens’s festive classic proved a huge hit with the press and audiences alike and broke box office records for Derby Theatre.

From Friday, December 4, 2015 until Saturday, January 9, 2016, Derby Theatre will present a fresh and magical production of Cinderella, a sparkling Christmas tale for all the family performed in a similar style to A Christmas Carol by a merry band of actor-musicians.

Inspired by the traditional Grimms fairy tale, Olivier Award-winning writer Mike Kenny creates a fun and feisty retelling of the famous rags-to-riches tale full of earthy humour, enthralling storytelling, with a touch of Christmas

sparkle thrown in.

Made by the talented team at Derby Theatre, with live music and theatrical magic, Cinderella is aiming to be the ideal Christmas treat for all the family and for schools looking for that special festive visit to the theatre.

Drawing her dreams in the hearth-side ashes with only the kitchen rats for friends, Cinderella wishes for something better than the taunts of her mean step-sisters.

When she hears about the kingdom’s most fabulous ball, she’s determined to strut her stuff on the dance floor, but can she escape her pot-washing prison to attend the party of the year?

The story is full of magic and sparkle and our version will be a fun and stylish interpretation for all the family.
