Dance the night away with Spiltmilk show

In Good Company associate company Spiltmilk Dance bring their outstanding Live & Local show to Crich this weekend.

Part performance, part social dance, Spiltmilk Say Dance reinvents social dance crazes that have swept dance floors all over the world; the kind of dances we all end up doing at discos, weddings and family gatherings.

It’s a show of two halves. The first half of the evening sees the company’s three dancers put their unique spin on familiar dance favourites – think disco dancing to Sinatra, the YMCA to Mozart, and The Twist on chairs.

After the interval it’s your turn! The chairs will be pushed back, and everyone is invited to join in a social dance like no other, with the professional dancers mingling, and a caller to make sure you all go roughly the same way.

There’ll be the dances you only do at weddings, long-forgotten country dances learnt at school, elegant ballroom moves from Jane Austen’s era, and those daft novelty routines we all pretend we don’t know, all accompanied by some unexpected musical choices played by live musician Sam Dunkley.

This is definitely not Strictly!

Spiltmilk Say Dance is a family-friendly night with something for everyone, dancers and non-dancers alike; an evening that all generations can enjoy together to music and moves that we all recognise and love.

Grans and granddads can strut their stuff with the little ones, Dads can dance with pride, and the teens can show what they’re made of.
