Tasty weekend at FoodFest

Local artisan food producers, retailers and chefs are the stars of the show at Winter FoodFest, at Thoresby Courtyard near Ollerton on November 14-15.

Around 30 small companies will be at the FoodFest this year, the majority of them based in Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire.

“We’re so glad to see so many companies from this area”, said event organiser Alison Lowe of Nottingham-based Adelanta Events. “We have a great mix of established exhibitors and new participants this time around, so visitors will find some old favourites and some surprises as well”.

Speciality food on offer will include locally-made jams and jellies, potted meat, rapeseed oil and cheese, along with a wonderful array of treats; handmade chocolates, cakes, tarts, brownies, fudge, marshmallows, pies and pastries. There will be a chance to stock up for Christmas on Nottingham-brewed real ales, as well as fruit-based spirits.

“There’s a brilliant selection of retail foods and a nice variety of cooked foods to eat on the spot, so come hungry!” continued Alison. “We have some really unusual offerings; Churros, Crepes and even African food, along with the usual burgers, sausages and hog roast, all made from locally-farmed meats. And, just over a month before Christmas, it’s just about the right time to start thinking about presents. This is a very easy and fun way to start your shopping!”

In addition to the food stalls, a Kitchen Theatre will offer regular demonstrations by Nottinghamshire chefs, and there’s even a Treasure Hunt for children.

Admission to the FoodFest is free, as is on-site parking at Thoresby Courtyard. The FoodFest runs from 10am-4pm daily.
