Streets are alive at feste

Get ready for Derby Feste 2015 next month.

Derby city centre will once again transform, for a ninth year, into a world-class festival site and,through a multitude of exciting outdoor

performance areas, act as the perfect platform to play host to Derby Festé 2015, the ever-popularpost-summer annual extravaganza of city-wide live performances and breath-taking acts.

Derby Festé 2015 will take place throughout the city centre on Friday and Saturday (September 25-26) and willbe produced and presented by Déda, Derby LIVE, Derby Theatre and QUAD in association with the Without WallsAssociate Touring Network.

Since this annual cultural highlight started in 2007, Derby Festé has established itself as one of the best UK street-arts festivals and has attracted some of the highest quality acts, from across the UK and abroad, to the city’s streets.

Organisers are thrilled to welcome the headline act for this year, the UK premiere of thestunning drum and firework show, Danbor Talka: The Clash of The Drums (pictured), created by Deabru Beltzak (Spain) and Les Commandos Percu (France).

The event has grown to the point where it now offers locals and visitors alike two days of world-class outdoor performance which, this year, Derby Festé kicks off on Friday night with the Grand Tour installation, The Enlightenment Comes Alive, projected onto the Silk Mill.

This will be followed by the beautiful Soul of Fado performance by Nuno Silva on Cathedral Green, before giant beasts from prehistoric times (Close Act’s Saurus) stalk through the streets.

Other 2015 highlights include: The Lift by Wet Picnic; Belladonna and her Venus Flytraps by Bell & Bullock; Man in a Box by Maynard Flip Flap; Laundry XL by Directie & Co / Totaal Theater; Frantic by Acrojou.

Also returning for another year will be the Splash Stage, showcasing some of the best talent in Derbyshire.

“I’m delighted that Les Commandos Percu – who last brought theirexplosive blend of percussion and pyrotechnics to Derby Festé in 2010 – will present the UK premiere of their latest show Danbor Talka: The Clash Of The Drums on Bass’ Rec.

“The Dutch masters of street theatre Close Act will stalk the streets with their gigantic prehistoric birds Saurus in a thrilling night time procession.

“Festé has become one of the country’s leading outdoor street arts festivals, attracting vast numbers of people from all walks of life. As usual, audiences this year can expect a weekend of unforgettable experiences for all the family across Derby city centre.”
