The toughies can go for the Marathon 25 miler, taking in Great Longstone, Foolow, Grindleford, Baslow and Bakewell. While those who prefer a more leisurely pace can choose the stunning views of the eight mile Monsal Dale walk.

For children and cake-lovers, there’s also a very special treasure hunt and three mile walk – The Three Cakes Challenge

Simon Groom, former Blue Peter presenter and vice president of Friends of the Peak District, will be at this year’s event. He said: “ “It’s so easy to take the beautiful Peak District for granted and forget how the area is so fragile and vulnerable. Its unique location as a National Park, situated between so many major towns and cities, puts huge pressure on its space, land and wildlife.”
